First United Methodist Youth
formerly known as CNVRG Youth
Our Mission: To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World
What We Do
Each week, our youth gather in their own youth space called the Loft at 9:50 for Sunday School. Our curriculum goes book by book and story by story through scripture as we grow together in faith and understanding.
Wednesday Night CNVRG
Each Wednesday, our youth come together for worship and small groups. The night starts with a church-wide meal, then youth move to the Loft and enjoy worship led by our youth band followed by a message and small group discussion
We also invite our Youth to get involved with our Contemporary Service on Sunday Mornings at 8:50. Whether they wish to just come and worship with us or step in and share their talents, we are happy to have them.
Youth Game and Small Groups
*Please pick up students between 7:30 and 7:45
Refuge is our first event of each year. It takes place in November at Shephard of the Ozarks Retreat Center. This event is for Jr. High students and focuses on letting students disconnect and recharge.
Winter Rally is a small event planned and executed by the youth from our district who are members of our DCYM. It is a one day event that usually takes place on a Sunday in early December focusing on worship, small groups, and games.
Veritas is the largest event that we attend as a group each year. In March, about 1,400 youth from around the state get together to enjoy incredible worship with talented bands and speakers.
Ozark Mission Project
Each summer, we send a group to Ozark Mission Project to spend a week doing projects for those in need. Projects include building wheelchair ramps, doing yard work, painting, and however else we can find to help.
Our second summer event is Assembly. This event takes place at Hendrix College and emphasizes small groups. Students enjoy worship each day followed by discussion with a small group of new friends from around Arkansas.
Ways To Get More Involved
Youth Praise Band
Youth have the opportunity to share their musical talents through our youth band that leads worship on Wednesday Nights. Students who are interested can contact Josh Holt for more information.
This year, our group will be forming a leadership team with youth from our group that show potential to go above and beyond. Students that are involved will be given opportunities to serve our group and grow deeper in faith.
Our Youth have the opportunity to serve on the District Council on Youth Ministries which teaches leadership skills by allowing students to plan and organize events for Methodist Youth in Southwest Arkansas.
Some students that serve on DCYM will have the opportunity to represent our district on the conference level on the Arkansas Conference Council on Youth Ministries. Here they will plan state wide events for Youth all across Arkansas.
