First United Methodist Church - El Dorado
Parts for the sanctuary air conditioner have been ordered and we hope to be back in the sanctuary by September for 10:50am Traditional service. In the interim, we will be meeting in the chapel. The 8:50am First Light service will continue to meet in the Hannah Building.
Wednesday Night Live ended for the summer and will resume again in August when school starts.
FUMC is in need of a used truck to haul trash from Hill St. to the dumpster located on Jackson St. The church currently owns a 1991 Chevy Silverado that has been in use for over 15 years but has almost outlived its usefulness. Please contact Anita Tennyson, Trustee Chair or Bro. David, if you have a truck that you would like to donate. The church will provide a donation receipt indicating fair market value.
A note from Rev. David Bush
My phone has been ringing a lot from our wonderful church family. I am only a phone call away. The Administrative Board has met and voted to begin the discernment process to disaffiliate with the United Methodist Church. In the coming months we will have several meetings and listening sessions in which the entire congregation is invited to attend. The first meeting will be led by our District Superintendent, Rev. Ann Ferris, on September 11, at 2 pm in the Hanna Building.
It will take a minimum of 90 days to go through the discernment process. We will take our time and go through the process slowly. I want to call on all of us to pray, pray, pray! I get up almost every morning by 5 a.m. and the first hour is usually spent in prayer, I challenge you to jump into prayer.
Pray for the congregations that vote to stay and for those who vote to leave. There are great folks in both groups. Let us always look for the good in others.
Many of you have called me with questions the last few days. Call me, I love to visit with you.
El Dorado is a great town and First is a great church.
If you have questions contact me, Anita Tennyson, or Susan Carmichael.
Rev. Andrew Thompson, senior pastor at First Springdale will be preaching both services.
